EXPERIENCE IMPORTANT TO EMPLOYERS ...

A survey of middle market businesses (£5 million to £500 million turnover) has found relevant experience is often more important to employers when recruiting entry level candidates than a degree.

Fifty-six per cent of respondents to advisory firm KPMG’s latest quarterly survey say entry level candidates – those who have just left school, college or higher education – should have relevant work experience. Only nine per cent felt a relevant degree level qualification was important at this level.

While a degree remains important, the research has shown that if a candidate can demonstrate relevant work experience this is a significant consideraqtion for many employers.
